Qualifications and Professional Development are core to good practice and career opportunities. A robust qualifications framework is vital to CILIP Members, employers and the communities we work among.
The Continuing Professional Development Team works with CILIP activists to provide one of the most supportive qualifications frameworks of all the professions. We work with and through networks of academics, assessors, trainers, advisers and mentors to ensure CILIP Members get the most out of their professional development and improve personal and service performance.
To achieve the goals of raising the profile of the profession and delivering a framework of qualifications with a high international reputation, the team works in several areas:
- Accrediting first degree and postgraduate courses
- Recognizing training and development providers
- Assessing Members’ continuing professional development at all stages of their careers
- Delivering workshops on recording and evaluating professional development
- Liaising with employers to offer entry level roles for graduates of all disciplines
- Working with employers to improve diversity in the library and information profession
