Honorary Fellowship

 
 

Nominations are now invited for Honorary Fellowship of CILIP (Hon. FCLIP). This is the Institute's award that honours considerable contribution to the library and information world by exceptional people.

The criteria are worded to encourage nominations of people from outside the library profession.

Criteria

Nominees should:

  • Have raised the profile of libraries and information services
  • Have advocated on behalf of libraries and information services
  • Be distinguished in areas that are associated with libraries, information or research

Nominations can be made of people who meet all or one of these criteria.

Nominees may include: well-known authors who have campaigned on behalf of libraries; scientists and academics whose work attests to the benefits of research and good resources; business people who use knowledge management to secure success; celebrities who are associated with library and educational campaigns; CILIP Members who have met the above criteria by acting above and beyond what would be expected in CILIP’s qualifications framework.

Nominations – which must be made without the nominee’s knowledge –are invited for the 2012 round of Honorary Fellowships of CILIP now.

Nominations may be made by current individual members of CILIP or by any of the Branches and Groups of CILIP or any of the Committees, Boards and Panels of CILIP. 

To make a nomination for Honorary Fellowship you are asked to send a statement of no more than 250 words showing how the nominee meets the criteria and giving your eligibility to make the nomination (see paragraph above).

Please note that nominations are made in confidence and are considered in confidence by the Honorary Awards Panel and the Council.

Completed nominations must be returned to the Chief Executive's office, CILIP, 7 Ridgmount St, London WC1E 7AE or by email attachment to Michael.Martin@cilip.org.uk by 5pm on the 8th June.
