The judging process
The judges are representatives from CILIP's Community Services Group.
The Community Services Group of CILIP is interested in promoting community cohesion through the use of library and information services to empower people and improve their quality of life. The group also helps in developing CILIP policy on social justice and community engagement.
Each year three members of the Community Services Group volunteer their time as judges for this prestigious award. Part of the vigorous judging process includes intensive project visits for the judges to decide on the finalists, and eventually, the winning project.
Eligibility
A project must be:
- UK based
- current and has delivered the service for at least six months up to 13 February 2012
- a partnership of two or more groups, one of which is a library or information service.
Aims & objectives of the award
Before completing your entry, consider how your project fits with the overall aims and objectives of the award - the judges will assess each entry looking for the following:
- Demonstrating the value of library or information services to the individual and to communities
- Enriching and changes the lives of individuals
- Consulting, engaging with and involving local communities and service users
- Adding medium to long-term value to the library service and the community, and demonstrate work towards social inclusion
- Demonstrating innovation and creativity
Supporting local, regional or national strategies for improving communities
- Contributing to equality of access and celebrates diversity.
- Demonstrating good practice with potential transferability to other library services
The judges' decisions are final. They reserve the right to withhold or withdraw the Award at their own discretion.
