On return from the ESU/CILIP Travelling Librarian tour, the successful candidate produces a report. Past recipients have found the study tour a rewarding personal and professional experience which has often helped advance their career.
2011
In 2011 the travel grant was awarded to Jane Rawson, Vere Harmsworth Librarian, Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford. Jane visited thirteen institutions with significant library and achival collections for American history in order to learn more about the collections. Jane is a US Studies Librarian and says in the executive summary to her report:
"I have returned to Oxford with a much greater appreciation of the breadth and depth of the physical collections in the institutions I visited, as well as an understanding of the issues and constraints surrounding the process of making parts of these collections available digitally..."
Her report gives details of her follow-up work to share the knowledge she has gained via a blog, reports, guides and talks.
