Biography
John Crawford has worked in public, school and academic libraries. He was formerly the director of the Scottish Information Literacy Project. He became interested in information literacy in 2002 and it has been his main focus of activity since then. He served on the Concil of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) from 2002 to 2007 and during this time served as chair of its Professional Practice Committee and was a member of its Executive Board. He also serves on the CILIP Disciplinary Committee. He is former chair of the Library and Information History Group, is still a committee member and has a strong interest in membership activism. He has written extensively in professional and academic journals and has authored two books. He serves on the editorial board of two scholarly journals and regularly referees journal submissions to a number of refereed journals.
