30 January 2004 – TV star Joanna Lumley presents Achieve Awards to six outstanding library learners as part of a partnership between CILIP and learndirect.

19 August 2004 – CILIP launches a new website

19 October 2004 – CILIP secures a deal providing members with free access to the employment law help line run by the Work Foundation.

18 November 2004 – CILIP members vote overwhelmingly for a flat rate subscription for employed Associates, Chartered members and Chartered Fellows.

24 November 2004 – New online services for CILIP members are launched - including free online access to Library and Information Science Abstracts, the Journal of Information Science and the Journal of Library and Information Science.

14 December 2004 – CILIP Council agrees an expert definition of Information Literacy and the Health Executive Advisory Group published its Future proofing the Profession report.
