30 March 2006 – CILIP’s lobbying work in partnership with other library and information bodies succeeds in securing an amendment to the Act – Dissemination of Terrorist Publications – marking a significant victory for the library and information lobby.

2 June 2006 – CILIP's Gazette magazine launches with a new format, new look and new content

30 June 2006 – Over 3,000 school and public library reading groups are registered for the CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Awards shadowing scheme, involving 60,000 young people in reading for pleasure. www.ckg.org.uk receives 1.5 million page views in one month.

14 June 2006 – CILIP persuades Minister for Neighbourhood Phil Woolas to consider public libraries in future policy initiatives to combat social exclusion and promote neighbourhood renewal.

3 July 2006 – CILIP sends Quality People Equals Quality Service information packs to 4,000 Human Resource Professionals. The pack is designed to help them recruit the best people to information roles by communicating the benefits of employing qualified Library and Information professionals.

11 July 2006 – CILIP secures a deal with the Emerald Group Publishing to give members free online access to the latest versions of five specialists journals.

24 July 2006 - CILIP and Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) set out a joint agenda on workforce development issues in a Memorandum of Understanding.

15 September 2006 – CILIP holds its first Graduate Open Day, attracting over 100 students and young professionals to learn about careers in libraries and information.

9 October 2006 – CILIP goes live with Care, its new membership database – enabling improved records managements and administration of memberships.

25 October 2006 – CILIP Communities is launched providing a step change in member-to-member communication and enabling CILIP to take advantage of web 2.0 technologies.

25 November 2006 – CILIP publishes a list of members achieving Certification, Chartership and Fellowship for the first time in the Guardian as part of a sponsored editorial.

28 November 2006 – CILIP launches a Seal of Recognition to recognise high standards in training and development activities in the library and information community.

1 December 2006 – CILIP’s jobs website www.lisjobnet.com averages 500,000 page views a month and 30,000 unique visitors securing CILIP’s long-held position as the market leader in LIS recruitment.

7 December 2006 – CILIP Council agrees radical reform of CILIP Governance.
