CILIP's governing body is its Council. Council manages the affairs of the Institute. Councillors are the Trustees of the charity. CILIP has a Royal Charter and associated Byelaws which are subject to approval by the Privy Council.
Council is comprised of 12 Trustees elected directly by the Membership. There is provision for up to three-co-options.
