Oxford Brookes University Library have proved that a simple, but innovative approach to promoting a website to freshers can work.

The judges were impressed by the way they took on the challenge of the Freshers' Fair to talk to new students. Contact with 500 potential customers plus the record of 180,000 hits on the web site during October 2001 proves considerable achievement.

National Poetry Day Campaign
Leicestershire County Council Libraries & Information Service

This was a tightly focused poetry campaign that caught the judges' eye. Care was taken to create mood and atmosphere using monochrome graphics to promote a poetry reading by Martin Newall.

Judges were pleased to see that the audience was asked to complete an events survey to provide valuable contact information for the promotion of future events.

Leicestershire County Council Libraries & Information Services is Highly Commended for the creative use of low budget publicity to promote their National Poetry Day event.

Change your Life at Gosport Library
Hampshire County Council Library & Information Service

Hampshire orchestrated a successful low budget campaign under the heading Change your Life at Gosport Library.

Evidence of their success was shown by increased enquiries about Careers advice and Link 2 Learn and also comments such as 'I didn't know how comprehensive the library is'… 'I learnt a lot without feeling that I was being talked down to'…' Thanks to you I have enrolled on a computer course'.

This is clear that this campaign was well received by the target audience.

Gosport Library is Highly Commended for a well executed campaign.
