Try-out period open to all prior to CILIP member-only access
News 30/06/04
CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals is to make two flagship professional journals available free online for a limited period, prior to access being restricted to CILIP members only. Following agreement with the publishers Sage Publications, Journal of Information Science and Journal of Librarianship and Information Science will be available to search full text online until 1 November.
“We’re very pleased to be able to offer free access to these two important journals in the run up to the introduction of the member-only area on the CILIP web site towards the end of the year,” says CILIP’s Information Manager Caroline Nolan. “The intention is to give CILIP members the opportunity to put these two journals through their paces before perhaps opting to take one or other free online thereafter, and either or both in hard copy on subscription.,” she continues, “as we’re sure that this will encourage more people to sign up for CILIP membership with all its other benefits as well.”
To access the journals online, users should go to
www.cilip.org.uk/practice/journals.html
. A simple click-through then takes them to one or other journal. CILIP members will additionally be invited to register, to ensure that their free online access to one or the other continues beyond the trial period.
