CELEBRATING 70 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING CHILDREN'S BOOKS

Shortlists announced for the 2007 CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Children's Book Awards

Vote for your favourite CILIP Carnegie and Greenaway winners of all time from two Top 10 lists

32 outstanding books for children and young people feature in two major announcements made today by CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.

12 titles have been shortlisted for the 2007 CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals, and 20 books have been chosen as contenders in a public online poll to find the nation's favourite Carnegie and Greenaway winners of all time.

The first vote will be cast at 3.30pm this afternoon at a special celebration event at Seven Stories, the centre for the children's book in Newcastle. The public can vote online at www.ckg.org.uk and will have until 12 noon on 14 June to choose their favourite title.

The winners of the 2007 Awards and the results of the Carnegie and Greenaway Top 10 polls will be announced at the British Library on 21 June.
