Sponsors back CILIP’s third RFID in Libraries conference
CILIP’s third annual RFID in Libraries conference is attracting strong support from leading suppliers. It will be presented at the QEII Conference Centre in London on 13 November 2007, and already nine sponsors have committed to the event.
The conference brings together information professionals from all sectors of the UK library community to hear expert presentations on the use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and to discuss the issues raised. Previous events have attracted more than 200 delegates and last year’s conference was rated 92% Good to Excellent.
Due to increasing demand, larger facilities have been secured for the one-day conference. This year’s theme is Putting RFID to work – are you getting value for money? The programme will move the focus from RFID as a new concept to that of a maturing technology, and identify how libraries are benefiting from it.
Exclusive research will be presented on whether libraries are receiving an acceptable Return on Investment (ROI) as well as updating the findings of last year’s survey about RFID Implementation in the UK.
New in 2007 is a link up with the UK’s RFID Centre at Bracknell in Berkshire, which is developing a post-conference half-day Executive Briefing for the library community, on 28 November. Its Introduction to RFID programme will provide a wider perspective of RFID’s uses, and enable delegates to get hands on with the technology during a tour of the Centre’s demonstration suite. Full details are online at www.rfidc.com.
Supporting RFID in Libraries 2007 as overall conference sponsor is 3M United Kingdom. Other sponsors include leading RFID suppliers DS, Talis, 2CQR, D-Tech Direct, SB Electronic Systems, Intellident, Holt Jackson and Tribal. The conference is supported by the Department of Trade & Industry and the Museums Libraries Archives Council, as well as by BIC/CILIP’s RFID in Libraries Group.
A very limited number of sponsorships are still available. For more details contact John Woolley on 020 7255 0694 or e-mail john.woolley@cilip.org.uk.
