John Woolley was appointed Managing Director of CILIP Enterprises in September 2004 and in January 2005 took on additional responsibility for CILIP’s Corporate Marketing activities.
Previously Group Managing Director of specialist publishing and events business The Shephard Group, John has extensive senior management experience of business and newspaper publishing, international event management, training course programmes, and a variety of on-line information, marketing and advertising services.
As Senior Conference Manager at Lloyd’s of London Press (now part of Informa Group) he built up a substantial business running major international conferences for the worldwide insurance and maritime communities, launched a branded training course programme, and established a third-party event management operation for Lloyd’s of London.
Prior to that appointment, John was a main board director at specialist banking and financial services information provider The Lafferty Group, with responsibility for its international conference and events business. His other appointments have included Publisher of Benn Publication’s Timber Trading Group and the editorship of various business titles. A trained journalist, John started his career in various editorial roles with East Surrey Newspapers.
