Michael is the Adviser for Qualifications and Professional Development. Since 1999 he has been writing and distributing information on careers and qualifications and promoting CILIP at the annual round of visits to university departments. As well as responsibilities for the Accreditation of library and information courses, he also supports Members in Certification, Chartering, Revalidation and the Fellowship. His first library post was in 1990 as a library assistant at Middlesex University. After qualifying at Thames Valley University he went on to work as a solo practitioner, a subject librarian and then Acting Campus Librarian during which time he gained his Chartership.
