Awards
Student Bursary
East Midlands Branch Council awarded a bursary of 50% of the fees for one year to a part-time postgraduate student who is a member of CILIP living in the East Midlands in 2005 and 2007. In 2007, East Midlands Branch of CILIP awarded a bursary to Edward Kirkland, a second year student in the Department of Information Science at Loughborough University. The Branch Committee offered the bursary as part of their ongoing commitment to work with their local Library and Information education provider and to actively support regional members of CILIP. The award contributed to Edward’s tuition fees for that year.
Umbrella Sponsorship
In 2007 East Midlands Branch Council offered two sponsored places to Umbrella. Six applications were received and all the candidates had put some thought into why they wanted to go, the sessions they would be interested in attending and the value both to them and their respective services. We are delighted to announce that Hannah Jones who works in the NHS and Judith Fox from Nottingham City were awarded the two free places. East Midlands Branch is pleased to be able to offer them the opportunity to attend.
