With more and more businesses using Web 2.0 technologies for knowledge sharing and information management, skills that were previously the sole preserve of the librarian or information manager are becoming a necessity for staff in a wide variety of roles. This is not a threat to information professionals, but a chance for them to demonstrate the value of their knowledge.
Information skills are highly transferable. Helen is convinced that librarians' skills are paramount to the success of Web 2.0 and will look at how information professionals can use their skill sets for the benefit of their organisations.
Helen Nicol is a Capacity and Capability Programme Manager at NHS Connecting for Health. She has a keen interest in learning and knowledge sharing and recently achieved a distinction for her M.Ed dissertation in Training & Development.
CILIP in London evening meetings are free and open to all with a professional interest in the topic. Refreshments will be available afterwards.
