Speaker: Carole Chapman, Inclusion Trust
Do you know how many people do not get any type of schooling? The Inclusion Trust creates learning opportunities for people excluded or disengaged from traditional education systems; it aims to make learning more accessible by using new and emerging information technologies, such as user-generated media content, community software and personalisation, to support communities of learners within their own contexts.
Notschool.net is a national, Internet-based ‘Virtual Online Community’ offering an alternative to traditional education for young people who, for a variety of reasons, can no longer cope with formal schooling, home tutoring or specialist units.
Carole will show how information-based services can make a significant difference to learning outcomes.
Carole Chapman has wide experience at all levels of the education system and is especially concerned about missing children. She is currently Head of Research and Evaluation for Inclusion Trust, an award-winning charity committed to re-engaging those excluded from traditional forms of education.
Carole also has a particular interest in Professional Communities of Practice - a topic which she will be happy to discuss.
CILIP in London evening meetings are free and open to all with a professional interest in the topic. Refreshments will be available afterwards. As space is limited, please let us know if you are coming. It would be helpful to tell us how you found out about the event. Contact Phillip Powell at Phillip@montanaroad.plus.com
