Members' Day Talk and Reception

CILIP in London is hosting a talk and reception at Members' Day on 16 October 2008.

Our speaker this year is the writer Michèle Roberts. Her talk is entitled ‘Memoirs of a lapsed librarian’.

Apart from being the author of 12 novels, Michèle Roberts is a former judge of The Booker Prize and often sits on panels for literary prizes. She is a regular book reviewer and broadcaster, writes a fortnightly food column for The New Statesman, and is a Professor of Creative Writing at UEA. In December 2001, she was appointed Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government. A staunch republican, she refused an OBE in 2003. Her latest book is Paper Houses: A Memoir of the 70s and Beyond.

The talk begins at 18.00 in the Brunei Gallery at SOAS. It will be followed by a reception at 19.00. For further information contact: CILIP Conferences, 7 Ridgmount Street, London WC1E 7AE. Tel 020 7255 0543 . Fax 020 7255 0541. Email conferences@cilip.org.uk
