Know and tell: writing our script for a smarter world
Date: Tuesday 11 October 2005
Time: 6.30 pm
Venue: The Sekforde Arms, Sekforde Street, London EC1 Speaker: Debby Shorley, CILIP President 2005-2006
Debby Shorley will talk about the need to remember the basic principles which underpin our role as library and information professionals, concentrating on the critical importance of free access to information and the need to remove any barriers which stand in the way of this. She will use a few personal examples and then broaden out to national and international contexts.
Debby Shorley graduated from Durham University with a degree in French, and attained her post-graduate Library qualification at Queens University Belfast. She began her professional career in Belfast, where she worked in the Central Library during the 1970s. Currently she is Librarian at the University of Sussex.
