What difference will multimedia make to research communications? The issues for information professionals
Barry Mahon will cover the economic and technical issues affecting information professionals in dealing with multimedia 'documents'.
Barry Mahon is currently based in Paris where he is Executive Director of ICSTI, the International Council for Scientific and Technical Information. He is also Associate Advisor and Consultant at TFPL.
Barry, who is well known for his pioneering work with both online and email services, was for many years Head of EUSIDIC, the European Association of Information Services. He also spent two years as a volunteer development worker in Africa.
Barry is a key player on the international scene - most recently the 2005 annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has been active in the debate on open access publishing, while his own most recent books are on Information Architecture (with Alan Gilchrist) and digital preservation.
