People enter the profession through many different routes. For many, this involves a combination of practical experience, completing a qualification and gaining Professional Registration with CILIP.

    University courses often ask for practical experience before enrolling on a course. There are several ways to gain it, such as graduate traineeships, paid employment or voluntary work.
