UEA Library is an iconic example of 1960s brutalism and was designed by Denis Lasdyn. An extension was added in 2006 designed by Shepheard, Epstein and Hunter.

The UEA archives contain a diverse range of collections including the British Archive for Contemporary Writing featuring nature writers such as Roger Deakin and Mark Cocker and selected papers of Doris Lessing, plus many others on subjects such as scientific writing, Modernist art, design and architecture, theatre, and the suffragettes. More information about the archives and their fascinating range of collections can be found on the UEA Archives website and the Archives blog - Unbound.

The Robert Sainsbury Library supports the research and teaching needs of the Sainsbury Research Unit and the University of East Anglia. Its focus is on the arts and material culture of Africa, Oceania and the Americas. It is located within the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, alongside the main gallery and the Department of Art History and World Art Studies which is part of the School of Art, Media and American Studies. The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts is a striking Norman Foster 1978 building which was further extended in 1991, with further improvements in 2006 and 2013-2014.
