General

  • The Equality and Human Rights Commission has produced many documents on disability rights. They can be found on their website
  • The Employers Forum on Disability is an organisation set up to help employers look at how disability affects their business 
  • CILIP Policy on Equal Opportunities
  • Claud – Librarians in Higher Education networking to improve library access for disabled users in the South and South West of England this group disseminate best practice

Hearing impaired

  • Louder than Words is the RNID's charter mark to make your workplace and service deaf aware 

Mental health

Visually impaired

  • See it Right is the RNIB’s guidelines for making information accessible to the visually-impaired 
  • The RNIB's Information is power campaign produced a leaflet to help libraries make their services more accessible to the blind 
  • RNIB National Library Service offers library loan service of materials in formats accessible to the visually impaired
  • RNIB library catalogue is a catalogue of resources in accessible format
