Who is disabled?

According to the Disability Discrimination Act 'a person has a disability for the purposes of this Act if he has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.'

In December 2006 the Disability Equality Duty was introduced for the public sector. The Equality and Human Rights Commission explains this duty and how you can fulfil it.
