CILIP's research policy document
CILIP's research policy document outlines our position on a range of aspects of research and development issues as they affect the management of information and library services. CILIP claims a role in, among others:
- Acting as an authoritative voice on research
- Influencing the broad research & development agenda
- Identifying the scope for and promoting appropriate research & development
LIS research coalition
The Library and Information Science Research Coalition facilitates a co-ordinated and strategic approach to LIS research across the UK. CILIP is one of the founding members of the coalition. Dr Hazel Hall currently implements the plans of the coalition.

LIRG
Library and Information Research Group (LIRG)
LIRG plays an important role, in partnership with the Policy and Advocacy Unit, in developing and implementing the policy and its associated strategy.
LIRG researcher directory
At Umbrella 2009 LIRG launched a new researcher directory of people researching LIS in the UK and Ireland. LIRG invites practitioners and academics who are conducting or planning on conducting research in the LIS area at any level to add themselves to this Directory.
Library and information research resources
LIRG maintains a research resource collection to act as a starting point for research and current awareness. It covers a wide range of resources including journals, websites, discussion lists and conferences.
