We are very honoured because the Library is opening specifically for our visit, it does not normally open on a Saturday.
The Chawton House Library main collection focuses on works written by women in English during the period 1600 to 1830.
The Library holds early editions of works from the period; many of the books in the collection are rare and in some cases even unique.

*** Lunch at the Greyfriar ***
Lunch is not included in the cost, but we do have a room set aside for our use. You can preorder your lunch from either the restaurant or bar snack menu.
The Greyfriar public house is situated in Chawton, Hants opposite the Jane Austen House Museum.
It is the quintessential old wood beam type of pub, in a beautiful unspoiled Hampshire village.
The type of place where time seems to have stopped and you can easily while away the hours over a great pint complemented by some astonishing home made food.
