Aims and Objectives

CILIP West Midland | Putting Members First

We represent library and information professionals living and or working in the counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. We also serve the metropolitan districts of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton, as well as the non-metropolitan districts of Stoke-on-Trent and Telford and Wrekin.

Committee members represent a wide range of sectors from across the West Midlands region. New committee members are always welcome.

The role of the West Midland Branch of CILIP is to raise the profile, represent its members and enhance the expertise of library and information workers in the region.

  • Raising the profile

  • Promoting and supporting excellence in the library and information community.
  • Encouraging active participation by members

Activities in pursuit of objectives

  • Improving the profile through publicity
  • Co-ordinating members' activities
  • Working towards improved communication with CILIP
  • Organising meetings and training events
  • Publishing a newsletter on a regular basis
  • Facilitating appropriate support networks
  • Exchanging experiences and examples of good practice
