Introduction to CoFHE

More than 2000 people have decided to join CoFHE ... WHY?

Because they know CoFHE...

  • promotes the role of post 16 education libraries and librarians
  • develops guidelines for post 16 library services
  • is represented in groups where matters concerning academic libraries are discussed
  • works with other groups with similar interests and is starting to develop international links
  • works to promote equality of opportunity in service provision and in employment
  • identifies, monitors and influences issues concerning the role, employment and resources available to librarians in post 16 education
  • provides advice and continuing professional development activities
  • encourages active involvement in professional activities both locally, through the regional Circles, and nationally, including its highly valued national conference

CoFHE is the group for you if you ...

  • work in post 16 education and want to be sure that your voice is heard and that your interests are looked after
  • need more support at work in fighting for your library services
  • have opinions about librarianship and libraries and want to discuss them with lively people
  • want to become more widely involved in your profession
  • are prepared to be stretched and work in a group that listens
  • want to be sure that CILIP is properly informed about academic library concerns
  • want some fun out of college librarianship.
  • are an enterprising librarian or information professional working in post 16 education, then CoFHE can provide advocacy for you.
