National council

National council is the governing body of the Career Development Group. It is made up of:

  • President
  • Past President
  • Vice President
  • 11 Honorary Officers
  • 1 voting representative from each of the Divisions
  • Representatives of the Affiliated Members’ National Committee and PTEG

Division representatives

Each Division selects its own representative to the Career Development Group Council. The role of the representative is to:

  • represent their members' views to Council, be it in formulation of Group policy, in discussion of matters referred to Council, or in initiating debate on particular matters of concern
  • report fully in writing to their Divisional committee on discussion at Council and to ensure that any work referred to Divisions is completed on time
  • participate on an individual level at Council meetings

Honorary officers

  • Some Honorary Officers share their role, or have an Associate Officer to assist them in their work.  Associate Officers are not members of Council but attend meetings of Council as required.
  • From time to time, other observers or participants, such as key CILIP staff, may be invited.
  • There is a National Council FAQs for those attending National Council.
  • Members of Council are listed in the Career Development Group Council Directory, which also lists Divisional committee members and other useful contacts.
