Career Development Group |
Welcome to the Career Development Group brand-new website.
We have been working hard during the last few weeks updating all our content to offer all the information you need about who we are and what we do to support the development needs of both our members and the wider profession.
We hope you like the new look of the website and find it easy to navigate through our pages. We welcome your comments; they will enable us to continue improving the look and content of our pages so please drop us a line if you have any suggestions.
Among the many activities we have planned for 2010 will be, for the first time, 3 national conferences. This ambitious programme will begin with our National Conference in the spring on the theme of "Working smarter not harder". The date and venue have yet to be finalised so watch this space for more details.
Our 2nd New Professionals Conference "Proving your worth in challenging times" will take place at the University of Sheffield on Monday 5th July. Read the New Professionals Conference - Call for Proposals . The conference is a forum for anyone who has joined or returned to the profession within the last 5 years, and provides an opportunity to meet others and share experiences. Participating can make a massive contribution to your professional development so make sure you join us there!
The "Raising the bar" conference, aimed at middle and senior professionals, will be held at the new flagship Central Library in Newcastle on Thursday 10th June. Full details of the programme and how to book a place will appear here very soon.
There is also a really exciting opportunity for one of our members wishing to contribute to international development through libraries and information to travel to Uganda next Spring and do some work for the African Prisons Project, the international project that CDG has been supporting since 2007. Check out the
CDG International Bursary information for further details.
You can also find information about our brand-new international co-operation project in Sri Lanka, our journal "Impact", our network of support to the chartership process, our long history and much more...
In our Divisional Pages you can check events taking place in your area and find contact details for our divisional committees. We always welcome new people to become involved in the running of the Group; just email us and we will send you information about the next committee meeting being held in your region.
If you are not a member of the Group, why not have a look at our membership pages for reasons to join us and become part of the Career Development family, a network on pro-active and like-minded professionals?
I look forward to leading the group in 2010 as your President and building on the excellent work of my predecessors.
