Diversity Conference 2010
"An Inconvenient Truth: Race, Class and Libraries"
Monday 14 June 2010. CILIP, London.
Our political leaders may well insist that that race and class are no longer relevant in the 21st century, but we in the Diversity Group know that these are issues that still impact heavily on both library staff AND our service users, and we think you would agree with us.
There was a great atmosphere at the conference and a variety of interesting presentations and speakers. The Diversity Group also held the presentation of the Diversity Award 2010 and its AGM.
Bonnie Greer was our key note speaker at the conference. Bonnie is a playwright, author and critic based in London. She is the Deputy Chairman of the British Museum's Board of Trustees and spoke in 2010 about the importance of diversity on company boards on the Guardian website.
