Diversity Group and Community Services Group Merger - May 2012 update
The CILIP Council agreed at its meeting on the 26th March 2012 to support the merge of the Community Services and Diversity Groups. John Dolan, Chair of CILIP Council has written "Council warmly welcome your proposals and we are grateful for all of the hard work and commitment that you have shown in getting the plans this far".
The working title of the merged group will be “Community, Diversity and Equality Group: Libraries transforming lives”
Interim Committee meetings of the CDE group will take place Tuesday 12th June and Tuesday 9th October, 11.15am - 3pm at CILIP Ridgmount Street.
The Interim members will be:
Chair: David Percival; Vice Chair: Linda Constable; Treasurer: Derek Kinrade and Secretary: Rose Johnson.
Diversity Group: Andrew Russell, Karen Berry, Carly Miller, Briony Birdi, Jacqui Lichtenstern (+ Christie Ikeogu and Gulshan Iqbal as sub group reps).
Commnity Services Group: Tom Berry, Philip Wark, Annastasia Ward, John Vincent, Jane Barnes, Neil Harvey

The Diversity Group held an EGM (Extraordinary General Meeting) on Wednesday 2 November 2011 at CILIP to vote on a merger with Community Services Group. The vote was in favour of the merger.

Diversity Group Committee meeting and AGM 2011
Wednesday 8th June 2011, CILIP
The Diversity Group AGM and Committee meeting took place on Wednesday 8th June 2011 in CILIP, London.
The Diversity Group AGM featured a panel chaired by Guy Daines, Director of Policy & Advocacy Unit of CILIP. Both Guy Daines and Margaret Watson, Director of Leading Edge Training (UK), spoke on diversity and its relevance for the advancement of the profession. Members were also invited to attend the International Library and Information Group (ILIG) Informal get together - A Travelling Librarian encounters the Caribbean in the US: collaboration, partnership and the Haiti Earthquake after the AGM at CILIP.
