Aims: the aims of Health Libraries Group Wales shall be:

  • a network of individuals in Wales working in or professionally interested in health and social care information
  • to work in collaboration with a wide variety of other health information groups

Mission: the mission of Health Libraries Group Wales is to meet the needs of all its members, including:

  • professional networking and support
  • influencing government, employers and organisations
  • providing and/or supporting continuing professional development


The HLG Wales Committee would like to invite you to join the newly formed Health Libraries Group Wales, a sub group of CILIP Health Libraries Group.
HLG Wales is a network of individuals in Wales working in or professionally interested in health and social care information.
As a diverse and active membership we represent all health and social care sectors in Wales. Members may work for the health service, the academic sector, the independent sector, the government, professional associations, citizens advice centres, charities, public libraries and advice centres.
We will work in collaboration with a wide variety of other health and social care information groups.

Individual membership is free if you are already a member of CILIP or HLG otherwise it costs £15 per annum. The benefits include receiving a copy of the HLG Wales newsletter and discounted attendance at HLG Wales events. We also offer a discounted Student Membership which costs just £5 per annum.

HLSID - Health Library & Information Services Directory

HLISD - a directory of Health Library and Information Services - aims to be the most comprehensive database of its kind. The information is updated by a network of editors who are responsible for checking the currency of their entries. The Directory has quickly become a valued resource. There are now nearly 900 library and information services entered and over 700 contact names.


New date – HLG Wales Study Day
Train the Trainer Workshop – Friday, 11th June 2010 at National Botanic Gardens

Would you like to learn more about preparing and delivering training? This course, aimed at both beginners and those wishing to consolidate their skills, will familiarize you with the basic principles of training, including how to identify different learning styles and adapt training to take these into account. It will look at how to handle difficult participants, and address some of the typical ‘what if’ scenarios that occur in training. You will also get the opportunity to gain practical skills in planning and preparing a training session and be given useful tips and aids to assist you in designing a successful training package.

The study day will be held at the National Botanic Gardens on Monday 10th May, and delegates will be able to explore the wonderful gardens, glass houses and library. 

The day will be facilitated by Paula Elson, who is Lead Facilitator for the RCN Clinical Leadership Programme, as well as being a trained teacher.
