The normal programme for the group consists of a meeting in spring, to include the AGM, and a meeting in the autumn. In alternate years, a training course is run.
The May 2009 meeting was entitled “Digital Native or Digitally Naϊve - Library & Information Services for the Next Generation”, and was well attended. All the comments from attendees were very positive. The meeting included the AGM, where Kate Byford and Candace Guite were re-elected onto the committee. John Burton was invited to attend committee meetings for the next year as an observer, with a view to joining the committee in 2010.
The autumn meeting was to be held in King's Lynn, on the subject of "The User Experience". It proved impossible to get speakers on the subject, so we took the view that it was not a viable meeting, and as there was not time to organise an alternative meeting by the time this decision was taken, we decided to cancel.
This led to discussions on whether it is feasible to have two meetings per year, and the committee has decided that we would like to continue to do so.
This year Sheila Thomas has resigned from the committee to pursue her more specialised interest in the electronic aspects of information storage and retrieval. We would like to thank Sheila for her sterling work as minutes secretary, and also for her assistance in the production of leaflets and the use of email to interest groups to advertise our meetings in recent years.
