24 May 2012 10.00-16.30 (registration from 09.30)
CILIP, 7 Ridgmount Street, London WC1E 7AE
This unique one-day conference will bring together representatives of key national and international organisations from the library and publishing sectors to provide their perspectives and engage participants in discussion and debate against the background of the UK copyright reforms proposed by the Hargreaves Report, the WIPO discussions on exceptions for libraries and archives and European developments concerning out-of-commerce works and the proposed orphan works Directive.
Aimed at library and publishing professionals operating within all fields, this symposium will provide a comprehensive view of the key copyright developments affecting the Library and Publishing Sectors. The conference objective is to broaden understanding and to open and stimulate discussion between major stakeholders within the copyright context.
Key speakers include Sarah Faulder, Chief Executive of the Publishers Licensing Society (PLS); Stuart Hamilton, Director of Policy and Advocacy, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA); Gerald Leitner, President, European Bureau of Libraries, Information and Documentation Associations (EBLIDA); Barbara Stratton Copyright Consultant; and Keith Webster, Vice-President Director of Academic Relations and Strategy, STMS John Wiley & Sons.
