CLAYPORT LIBRARY
Durham

Clayport Library

Judges comments:

Located in the city centre sharing space with a theatre, arts space, tourist information centre and a Citizens Advice Bureau lies the new Durham Clayport Library.  Once again local stone has been used to great effect combined with large areas of glass. Windows have been used to effectively frame local buildings as well as providing good natural light.

Accessibility is excellent and the imaginative children’s area with specially commissioned furniture and a space-age mural is worthy of a special mention.
