The author presents the findings from her Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travelling Fellowship. Four key areas are covered, namely: organisational structure, culture and workforce, including leadership; strategic partnerships; the role of library support organisations; and public libraries as spaces for interaction. Strategic recommendations are made for the UK library sector.
