Issue No 32 Winter 2011

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Issue No 32 of ‘School Libraries in View’.

This issue features four articles: ‘Libraries of the Future’, ‘Taking Lessons from Psychology’ ‘Learning from Library Visits’ and ‘Information Technology Use in State and Private Primary School Classrooms in London’.

Last May, an article about the library at Wellington College appeared in The Sunday Times (15.05.11) which caused a stir. The article was about the controversial changes Dr Seldon had made to his school library and I was fortunate to enough to meet him and ask about his views and the changes he had implemented. Dr Seldon has very kindly sent me an article to be published in SLiV which I hope you will find informative.

As usual, many thanks to the contributors: Dr Anthony Seldon, Dr Andrew Shenton Sally Perry, Jillian O’Connor.

May I take this opportunity to remind you that the views expressed in SLiV are those of the authors and not of SLG of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professional (CILIP).

I hope you find the articles in this edition to be informative and inspiring; if you are interested in contributing an article for publication, please get in touch with me at the following address:

aa@whitgift.co.uk

Finally I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the SLG (UK) National Committee to wish all readers a Happy New Year

Atiya Afghan
