Editorial

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Issue No 28 (Winter 2009) of 'School Libraries in View'.

This is my very first issue and I know I have a huge task ahead of me following in the footsteps of my predecessor, Lloyd Evans. I am sure you will agree that Lloyd did a superb job in his role as Editor of SLiV magazine for the previous six years, and I should like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his assistance and guidance in handing over before he moved on to his new role as Web Editor for SLG.

I have introduced some changes to the appearance and content of the journal which I hope will meet with your approval. In the next issue, I shall be making available a guide for authors offering advice on formatting of articles; this document will be available as a PDF file. I would like all authors to submit a brief biography; when reading an article it helps to know a little bit of the background of the author when trying to understand their point of view.

I would also like to introduce a ‘Readers’ Comments’ section. If you read an article that you have enjoyed or found interesting, or one which has provoked a reaction, please do write a few sentences and share your feelings with the author and other readers. Unfortunately, I will not be able to guarantee that all responses will be published but I will do my best. Please email these directly to me at the following address with ‘SLiV-Comments’ in the subject bar:

aa@whitgift.co.uk

I hope you find the articles in this edition to be both stimulating and informative and worthy of your response. If you are interested in contributing an article for publication, please get in touch with me at the above email address.

Many thanks to the contributors. The views expressed in all issues of SLiV are those of the authors and not of the SLG of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP)

Finally, may I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
