Events

Each year the Northern Section aims to organise :

• two to three training events featuring expert and prominent speakers on topical subjects. One of these events is usually free of charge. 
• a summer visit to a library or information service.
• an annual quiz.

Both members and non-members are always welcome.

Forthcoming events

1. The upcoming UC&R Group Northern event is "Shhhh? The Reality of New Technologies and their Place in Libraries" to be held at Teesside University Darlington on Tuesday 8th May 2012. 

As mobile technology becomes ubiquitous so does the discussion about the place of technology in libraries.  How do our customers use emerging and mobile technologies?  How can librarians keep up to date with developments and use these technologies to deliver their services and improve the custmer experience?

2. The Legendary Annual UC&R Group Northern Quiz will take place on Thursday 14th June at 7.30pm in The Bridge Hotel, Castle Garth, Newcastle.  This is always a fun evening, with prizes for the winning team.  Teams can be up to 6 people.  To enter a team please use the Booking Form or contact Helen Brown. Please book by 4th June.
