Danish Librarians
At a recent conference in London several of the National Committee had the pleasure of talking to a group of youth librarians from Denmark - and participating in a Q&A session.
Many of the themes discussed - staffing, budgets, reading promotion and engagement had a universal application. BOFA is a relatively small organisation, but one that is keen to develop and to grow.
During the discussion the use of the web to engage children was addressed and the Danish librarians mentioned several websites that may be of interest to YLG members.
www.pallesgavebod.dk - for children, from children's libraries
www.spoergolivia.dk - a national resource where children can ask anything via email or chat - run by children's librarians
www.bibliotek.dk - the national library online. A national loan service where items are requested on the web (via library membership card number and pin) and the book is delivered to the local library within 5 days at no charge.
