WEDNESDAY 3RD JULY
Ian Henderson, Manager for Change, the
British Library
Change in National Libraries
Ian Henderson set out the change agenda for
the Document supply Centre at Boston Spa. This was of interest
not only to users of the service but also to those who face
significant change in their own organisations - making the
case for change and outlining the key driving forces that
make this a necessity rather than a nicety. Ian briefly
outlined the work scope, looking at the approach to be adopted
and measures taken to maximise success. Ian also looked
at the importance of maintaining a focus on the customer
and positioning the customer to be at the centre of the
organisation. What will the future Document Supply Centre
look like and how will this then position the organisation
in the digital age? Finally what approaches should organisations
take when faced with the need to change and what lessons
should we learn when faced with the challenges of change?
