All Change: Future Scenarios for Information Provision
Political, economic, social and technological
forces are driving strategic and operational change in library
and information services. Electronic communication is transforming
the information marketplace, creating opportunities for
information entrepreneurs and threats to traditional providers.
Information management has become a critical issue for business,
government and the professions, resulting in the development
of information and knowledge strategies and the establishment
of top-management positions to direct information generation,
transfer and use. Library and information professionals
need to review their performance in this context and think
about what they can offer to their respective communities
and how they should reposition their services for the networked
society.
