Synopsis
A key problem faced by library service providers
is how to present a simple and integrated environment to
users whilst dealing with the multiplicity of information
sources and suppliers. During the last 12 months Portals
have rapidly become a hot topic as they are seen to offer
a potential solution to part of this problem.
The paper will present an overall model for the information
'Discovery to Delivery' process. Key components such as
Portals, Link Resolvers and Document Delivery/Inter-Library
Loan systems will be positioned within that model. The role
of each component will be described and also how they can
be integrated into a holistic information environment.
The Docusend service will also be presented
within this context showing how it can be deployed as a
key component of a Discovery to Delivery environment.
