News from FIL

2009 AGM

2009 AGM

The 2009 AGM will be held on Wednesday 1 July 2009 at 9.00am at Lancaster House Hotel, Lancaster during the annual FIL conference.

Nomination papers for committee members and (proposed) 2008 AGM Minutes are available on this website.

This year we are looking for three enthusiastic people to join the committee. Serving on the FIL committee is a great opportunity to broaden your knowledge of ILL issues, gain experience in planning and promoting events and maybe even editing a newsletter? It's also very useful for anyone working towards a CPD qualification such as affiliation or chartership or for professional development in general. We currently have three committee meetings a year, usually in Birmingham, and your travel expenses to and from any committee meeting will be covered by FIL.

If you would like to nominate a FIL member for the committee please complete a nomination form and ask another FIL member to second the nomination. If you would like to join the committee yourself and need someone to nominate you please contact me as soon as possible (contact details below). If you would like to find out more about the committee why not have a look at the minutes of recent committee meetings or contact one of the current committee members who will happy to talk to you.

Nominations need to be sent to me (email or post) at the address below to arrive no later than 5.00pm on Friday 26 June 2009.

If you would like to attend the AGM but are not a conference delegate please send me your name and contact details as soon as possible so that I can arrange access.

2009 Conference
Keeping It Simple: support, development & practicalities
29th June - 1st July, Lancaster House Hotel, Lancaster

Interlend 2009 will address key issues that are important to anyone working in interlending and document supply in the UK. The Conference programme is designed to appeal to residential delegates and to day delegates, and will feature a mix of presentations and break out sessions, with plenty of opportunity to network with colleagues and to share ideas. There will be topics of interest to public, academic and specialist library delegates.

Our speakers will include Terry Kendrick, who, after a career in public libraries moved to become an information and marketing planning consultant. Terry teaches consultancy, information and Internet skills and is a regular CILIP Course Leader. He will provide a formal presentation and break out sessions on Internet Search Techniques.

Once again, the venue offers comfortable, onsite accommodation, with the added bonus of close proximity to Lancaster's historic City.

What is FIL?

The Forum for Interlending and Information Delivery (FIL) is an organisation for interlending and document supply personnel. It is run by a committee of elected members who are themselves involved in inter-library lending (ILL) and document supply. FIL was set up to enable library and information workers in this area to exchange ideas and views and also to raise the profile of this area of work nationally and internationally.

FIL liaises with national bodies such as the BLDSC, CILIP and Conarls and raises areas of concern to ILL and document supply staff at national level.

Membership of FIL is open to anyone involved in ILL & document supply. You can either join as a personal or institutional member.
