Biography

Emma Farrow has worked for University of the West of England since 2002 and is now one of the Health  and Social Care library team. She has been involved with the charity Partnerships in Health Information , which oversees partnerships between health libraries in the UK and developing countries,  throughout the same period. Abstract

Working in a different country – the impact of culture and tradition on professional activities and information for health

The presentation draws upon the personal experiences of Emma Farrow and co-author Jean Shaw, Phi Programmes Officer, who have both worked with library colleagues in developing countries. Sensitivity to cultural differences is presented as an important part of successful partnership working, with references to language and communication, social structures and work-based practice.
