Abstract
Health
Information Network: collaboration and partnership striving to improve
the access to health information in the UK
In 2004 a group of UK health care database compilers
explored the benefits of establishing an informal forum. By 2005 this
federation became Health Information Network UK, with eight founder
members: AMED; BNI; Child data; DH Data; HMIC; HSWE, MIDIRS and SCIE.
The presentation explores how the federation is aiming to meet its
objectives of delivering quality UK health care information without
duplication or gaps and of strengthening the position of the small
independent database producer.
