Joan Hunter

Manager - Library and Knowledge Services

Norfolk Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Strategic Health Authority

Biography

Joan Hunter has worked in Health Libraries since 1976 and is chair of LKDN and the NHS East of England Counties' Library and Knowledge Services Alliance (ECLaKSA). She is also Manager of Library and Knowledge Services for the Strategic Health Authority in Norfolk Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.  When taking up this latter post she was asked to represent the SHA on the Steering Group for the Learning Resource Network in the East of England.  This has led to the initiation of a project to investigate access to NHS Library facilities for social care staff and students.

Abstract

Increasing access to knowledge, information and the evidence base of health and social care in the East of England

Adequate knowledge and information resources and services are essential for the development and implementation of evidence-based practice. Skills for Care Learning Resource Network in the East of England has funded a project to increase access to library, knowledge and information services for social care staff and if successful, it will provide an excellent example of integrated working between the NHS and social care.
