Biography
Joan
Hunter has worked in Health Libraries since 1976 and is chair of
LKDN and the NHS East of England Counties' Library and Knowledge
Services Alliance (ECLaKSA). She is also Manager of Library
and Knowledge Services for the Strategic Health Authority in Norfolk
Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. When taking up this latter post
she was asked to represent the SHA on the Steering Group for the
Learning Resource Network in the East of England. This has
led to the initiation of a project to investigate access to NHS
Library facilities for social care staff and students.
Abstract
Increasing
access to knowledge, information and the evidence base of health
and social care in the East of England
Adequate knowledge and information resources
and services are essential for the development and implementation
of evidence-based practice. Skills for Care Learning Resource Network
in the East of England has funded a project to increase access to
library, knowledge and information services for social care staff
and if successful, it will provide an excellent example of integrated
working between the NHS and social care.
