Mike Pringle

Mike Pringle is Professor of General Practice and Head of the School of Community Health Sciences in the University of Nottingham. He is a key partner in QRESEARCH, the new general practice aggregated database, and strategic director of PRIMIS. He is a member of the General Medical Council and a board member of UK Biobank. He was Chairman of the RCGP from 1998-2001. Mike has recently ceased to be a partner in a rural Nottinghamshire practice. Instead he is helping to set up the Collingham Healthcare Education Centre, an innovative primary care development project.

Since December 2004 he has been a GP National Leader for NHS Connecting for Health. He does this in 1.5 days a week as a job share with Gillian Braunold. His role is to increase clinical engagement by:

  • Listening to professional and public concerns, reviewing the programme and ensuring that deliverables are fit for purpose
  • Informing the profession and the public about the programme
  • Working with professional bodies such as the RCGP and BMA
