Pringle 
Mike
Pringle is Professor of General Practice and Head of the School
of Community Health Sciences in the University of Nottingham. He
is a key partner in QRESEARCH, the new general practice aggregated
database, and strategic director of PRIMIS. He is a member of the
General Medical Council and a board member of UK Biobank. He was
Chairman of the RCGP from 1998-2001. Mike has recently ceased to
be a partner in a rural Nottinghamshire practice. Instead he is
helping to set up the Collingham Healthcare Education Centre, an
innovative primary care development project.
Since
December 2004 he has been a GP National Leader for NHS Connecting
for Health. He does this in 1.5 days a week as a job share with
Gillian Braunold. His role is to increase clinical engagement by:
- Listening to professional
and public concerns, reviewing the programme and ensuring that
deliverables are fit for purpose
- Informing the profession
and the public about the programme
- Working with professional
bodies such as the RCGP and BMA
Abstract
The NHS Care Records Service and Improving Patient Care
In this presentation
Mike will explain the vision for the Care Records Service and key
aspects of it, including confidentiality, security and people limiting
their participation. He will then look at how it will improve patients'
experience through:
- Fewer errors of commission or omission
- Patient involvement
- Improved efficiency
- Better focus on patient's needs
