Sarah Allen
Biography
Sarah
joined the KIC in January 2004, to help set up this new service.
After gaining her MA in Information Management she worked in academic
libraries before moving on to work in the voluntary sector and health
promotion providing information to patients and professionals on
HIV, AIDS, and drug misuse. Sarah is also a member of the London
Health Libraries Patient Information Group and Deputy Chair of the
Patient Information Forum.
Abstract
Sourcing quality patient
information
The
workshop will outline why patient information is on the agenda for
health librarians, why patients want information and what types
of information they require. Key resources will be discussed and
examples of good quality websites provided with a chance for participants
to feedback on resources that they use. There will also be
the opportunity to look at quality issues and how to appraise a
leaflet or website.
